Some News For You

Hello everyone. It’s the Lady. I’m taking over the blog today to share some news.

Say hello to…

Cheeto.

I know…big surprise.

I wasn’t exactly looking for another cat, especially a kitten, but the Cat Distribution System had a different idea.

Cheeto showed up at my husband’s garden center business sometime last August. Now some of you may remember that there already were 2 cats at the garden center, Chip and Slim. Some of you also may remember that we lost Chip to illness back in 2020. But Slim is still there and doing well. He’s probably about 12 or 13 years old now.

Then this little guy appeared. Was he dumped there? Got lost somehow? No one knows. At first everyone tried to ignore him hoping he would find his way to wherever he belonged. But Cheeto didn’t leave. So my husband started feeding him (how could he not?) and trapped him and got him neutered at the low cost spay/neuter clinic, thinking he would just become another garden center cat.

But being so young (he was estimated to be about 3-4 months by the vet), and not to mention very friendly and cute as heck, we decided that a life outside may not be the best for Cheeto. I knew all the shelters and rescues were full so that wasn’t an option. And my husband was doing his darndest to convince me to bring him home by texting me cute photos of him and sharing funny stories. I finally gave in and said we could give it a try. Of course, it would ultimately be up to Murphy and what he thought.

So on October 16, we brought Cheeto home to the island and set him up in the big room we have over our garage. After letting him acclimate for about a week and getting him checked out by the vet…he needed to be defleaed and dewormed…we began to slowly introduce him to Murphy.

It’s been almost a month now, and the introduction is going okay so far. With Cheeto being such a rambunctious kitten, Murphy hasn’t quite figured out how to handle him. And neither have I for that matter! It’s been YEARS since I had a kitten in the house. But we’re getting there.

So once again…say hello to Cheeto…or Cheeto Bandito as he is affectionately call. Our newest Island Cat.
